Claudia Mundlos’ Work Accepted in OMA’s First Thursdays

claudiaillustrating.jpgClaudia Mundlos’ work done in Martha Lent’s Illustrating course this semester as been accepted to appear in the Orlando Museum of Art’s First Thursdays!

Claudia Elaborates: This project was created in connection with a campaign (see also “Love Your Body Campaign Poster Competition”) to encourage young women to “love their body” and see through the false body image that is communicated by the media. Since the project is a transparent shower curtain it functions in two ways:

  1. It communicates the message symbolically since it lets you “see through it”, specifically the outlines of a fashionable dress (therefore: fashion and whether you fit in a dress doesn’t matter, what matters is what is inside of you).
  2. Used as a shower curtain it will remind women (in the most private room of any home) every day to be happy for who they are and not for which dresses they fit in.

Exhibition Details:

  10. Congratulations to Claudia Mundlos for having her piece “Love Your Body” selected for the First Thursday’s event at the Orlando Museum of Art last night. The event was very well attended and Claudia’s work stood out amongst the other paintings and mixed media pieces that were all accepted by a jury panel.

  11. [...] About 2 years ago my work was actually exhibited at the First Thursdays arts party. It was installation art for an arts class project. You can read more about the project and art work here. [...]
