We’ve recently started up a youtube account for graphics and digital media animations, videos, and motion graphics projects. We’re certain you’ll be inspired by some of the work that students have been creating.
I’ve uploaded six new projects from my Interactive Design 1 course to share with you all. Last semester I began assigning a new typographic animation project which has had some great results. You’ll just have to check out the videos for yourself. Enjoy!
John Cusak in High Fidelity, created by Steve Steger
Jack Black in School of Rock, created by Heather Campbell
Going the Distance by Cake, created by Jason Pancho
Pepper, created by Rick Montilla
Australia by the Shins, created by Moraima Randazzo
Tom’s Diner, created by Taylor Heard
A BIG thanks goes out to Digital Media Professor, Rob McCaffrey, who was instrumental in spearheading our new youtube account. Keep an eye out for new videos by visiting Valencia’s digital media/graphics youtube account directly.

Excellent interactive work!! I loved it.

I’d like to invite you and your students to come make a presentation at BarCampOrlando’s New Media Day. You could show off a few of these projects or really any student work.
All presenters are given 20 minutes and a group of participants – you are encouraged to make the session into a discussion.
BarCamp is happening at the Wall Street Plaza downtown April 5th and 6th – Sunday is Media Day – the event is free, and lunch will be provided. Sponsorship options are also available (that means you, Valencia!).
Check out Bar Camp Orlando .com for more info and to RSVP.

It’s great to see all the feedback! I think what’s most impressive about this project is that for most students this is ONLY their second project using flash (they’ve only been using it since January). So given that I certainly have to say that the results are even more impressive!
And for all the students who are finding themselves wishing this project was assigned when they had taken the course in previous semesters, my apologies. I am constantly assessing and updating the curriculum and fortunately that means I try my best to bring new and stronger ideas to the table. Now, of course I do encourage all of you who have taken the course and are finding yourselves wishing you had this project to go for it – and try one on your own. In fact, you have a step up on all the students above because you currently have more Flash experience! And if you do let me know, I’m always anxious to see new typographic animations!

Great job here Amanda, it like taking the typography project to the next level! They are all nicely done. Haven’t we come a long way since, T-square, wax guns, and galley text?

What an awesome idea for a project! Really great interpretations by everyone. Rick’s “Pepper” was a really great visual! I never would have thought of combining typography with music or movie clips. Being a newbie in the design world, this project is really motivating. The combination of styles is endless! I really hope with the addition of youtube, more people get to experience these pieces. Awesome job to everyone involved.
